We are working on adding new state's to our list of supported state tax return list. Here is an overview of how we create a state tax return program. Our tax professionals create a list of questions that our customers need to answer in order to have their state tax return computed. These questions are stored in our system where it automatically generates the web pages that allow the customers to fill in their information and save it to our secure database. Next our programmers create a PHP script that will take the customer's saved information from the database and calculate their state tax return. They also create an XML file that will be used to take the completed tax return from the database and create a document that can be sent to the state government for processing. The programmer must also edit Adobe PDF documents to define text fields over the money amount fields so our system can populate the fields once the tax return has been completed. The process is relatively easy but takes a little time for writing the calculations for each state. Our tax professionals will give you an Excel spread sheet that will help you with the calculations. They are also available via MSN messenger for instant help if you have any problems. I (the manager) will also be available to provide help most work hours of the day. This task requires that your calculations pass the state's test to verify that they are correct. This task is also for one state tax return. If you do well you can request to do other states for as much or more than what you make programming the current state.
